Health Care Reform - In Effect Today…

Patients’ Bill of Rights - In Effect Sept. 23, 2010

Great news! Today, the health care reform Patients’ Bill of Rights goes into effect. Here’s just some of what that means:

  • FACT: As of today, no child can be denied insurance coverage because of a pre-existing condition.
  • FACT: As of today, your insurance company can’t cancel your plan just because you get sick.
  • FACT: More benefits in effect today: Young adults can stay on their parents’ insurance until age 26.
  • FACT: Another benefit in effect today: No more lifetime limits on health insurance coverage.
  • FACT: Under new plans, preventative care is FREE - immunizations, mammograms, cholesterol screenings, and more.
  • FACT: Ever afraid you’ll need emergency care but are out of network? As of today, your insurers can’t charge you more for that.
