Patients’ Bill of Rights - In Effect Sept. 23, 2010
Great news! Today, the health care reform Patients’ Bill of Rights goes into effect. Here’s just some of what that means:
- FACT: As of today, no child can be denied insurance coverage because of a pre-existing condition.
- FACT: As of today, your insurance company can’t cancel your plan just because you get sick.
- FACT: More benefits in effect today: Young adults can stay on their parents’ insurance until age 26.
- FACT: Another benefit in effect today: No more lifetime limits on health insurance coverage.
- FACT: Under new plans, preventative care is FREE - immunizations, mammograms, cholesterol screenings, and more.
- FACT: Ever afraid you’ll need emergency care but are out of network? As of today, your insurers can’t charge you more for that.
