To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

The other day I realized that I have been migrating away from Apple products. I sold my iPad on ebay because I enjoy reading on my Kindle more. I switched back to a Blackberry because I was dropping calls constantly on AT&T. I still love my Mac and know that I am not switching to a PC anytime in the foreseeable future.
Today Apple announced updated Ipod’s and they were interesting, but I am not buying any of these products either.
I use my older iPod Nano every time I run and I like it a lot, but the new Nano seems like it would be a pain to use when running - I can’t imagine navigating a touch screen interface while running. I am constantly skipping songs or tweaking the volume on my Nano and I can do this all without looking at the screen because the buttons provide me with some tactile feedback, but this touch screen won’t be able to do that (unless I am missing something). I would have considered this iPod if they built the Nike+ receiver into the Nano, but they didn’t.
Furthermore, I think it is kind of ugly (see below). It reminds me of one of the knock-off ipods that surface in foreign countries - they look like a rough approximation of an iPod but run a generic software application and feature far less features. This seems like a step in the wrong direction. I hope that thick black border does not become standard in the design of new Apple products. It’s already present in the iPad and now the Nano.

Apple launched a new Ipod Shuffle today too…they realized people like actual buttons and rolled back to the design featured in the previous iteration of the Shuffle - just a little smaller. I never really understood the appeal of the last version of the Shuffle, so this makes a lot of sense to me.
Finally, they launched a new iPod Touch with a bunch of new features including two cameras, a better screen, updated software and more. The new Touch seems like a really solid device and I can think of plenty of reasons to buy one. I am sure they will sell a ton of these this during the holiday season.
What do you think about the new apple products launched today? Anything you are dying to get your hands on?
